Another PPI mixed/mono question
Nothing has changed other then the new ATI video card and a new Soundblaster suround sound 5.1 upgrade card .. The only reason I switched to ATI was the Matrox card I was using , wouldnt support XP.. (but thats a different rant entirely) I have a p3/1000 with 384 meg ram.. and a Maxtor 40 gig 7200 speed using UDMA

TV problem
If this is the case, what you have to do is go into your dvd player settings, and swithch the sound from "all digital formats" back to "analog Dolby Suround Sound". You have to turn off the digital format. I know that's a bit of a pain, but that's the only way, unless you're digtal decoder can also decode a mpeg

Not all have optical digital output. Optical only helps if you have a serious ground loop problem or need an extra output. I use optical *and* coaxial as I need two outputs to pass one to an AC3 demodulator and the other straight into my suround sound preamp for PCM (or DD for DVD on my combo player)
